Obituary

Ensign - Jules Racy, 81, died April 23, 2021 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. He was born on November 5, 1939 at Independence, Kansas the son of William and Eva (Merchant) Racy.

He married Carole Short on October 17, 1964 in Liberal, Kansas, she survives. Mr. Racy proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1961 aboard a refueling plane. He worked at Fairmount Foods for many years as the milkman before later going to work as a custodian for USD#443. After working for the Dodge City School District for many years, he later worked at WalMart before retiring. Mr. Racy loved to go hunting, fishing and camping in his spare time. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was a member of the Howard Gotschall V.F.W. Post #1714 and First United Methodist Church all of Dodge City.

He is survived by his wife Carole of the home, two sons Chuck Racy of Ensign; Mike Racy and wife Susie of Montezuma; two daughters Connie Showalter of Andover; Jewel Knight and husband Tom of Dodge City. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and one niece Elizabeth Tincknell of Cherryvale, Kansas and two nephews Bill Racy of Cherryvale, Kansas; Jeff Racy of Overland Park, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Friday April 30, 2021 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Jerry  Odle presiding.  Burial will follow at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery in Ft. Dodge.Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 8:00PM.  Memorials are suggested to Jules Racy Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
