Dodge City - Julia L. "Judy" McDaniel, 79, passed away January 25, 2022 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City surrounded by her five children. She was born on June 28, 1942 in Dodge City, the daughter of Ralph and Buena Lee Thorpe.
She graduated from Wilcox Beauty Academy working as a beautician early in her career and for Social Rehabilitation Services in Dodge City before retiring. Judy was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren and loved spending time with her dear friends. Judy enjoyed writing poetry and was a faithful Christian woman studying the Bible daily.
She attended Abundant Life Family Church in Dodge City.
She is survived by four daughters Melora McDaniel of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Marisa Apodaca and husband Robert of Gretna, Nebraska; Melaney Loar and husband Edward of Rockwall, Texas; Monique McDaniel of Rockwall, Texas; son Sean McDaniel and wife Kerry of Overland Park, Kansas. She is also survived by her grandchildren Brittani King and husband Clay, Brooke Boyd, Angelo Apodaca, Max and Myles McDaniel, and Collins, James and William Loar.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Gerald Little and Maywood Little Jr. "J.R.".
Funeral service will be held at Abundant Life Family Church on Friday January 28, 2022 at 10:00 AM with Dr. Jim Ames and pastor Lydia Ames presiding. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Judy McDaniel Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
