Obituary

Julius R. Williams, 83, went to be with the Lord on May 4, 2011 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. He was born on October 18, 1927 in Dodge City, the son of John Arthur and Edna A. (Kreger) Williams.

Julius grew up in Dodge City and graduated from Dodge City High School. He then attended Dodge City Community College. On November 29, 1988, he married Donna Lee Slattery. She survives. Throughout his lifetime, he ran the family dairy, was a farmer/rancher, and owned Williams Dozer service, specializing in soil conservation.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dodge City, Ford County Soil Conservation Group, Kansas Land Improvement, and Dodge City Round-up.

Julius is survived by his wife Donna Lee Williams of the home, six daughters, Janet Williams of Jetmore, Debra Rincon and husband Eric of Dodge City, Brenda Maupin of Dodge City, Debby Israel of Kansas City, Donna Bennett and husband Jon of Clearwater, and Jami Skeen of Minneola; two sisters, Eleanor Hansell and husband Robert of Croydon, Pennslyvania and Irma Churning and husband Carl, Jr. of Dodge City; 12 grandchildren; and one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark; daughter, Tammy Kreger; nephew, David Churning; and niece, Eleanor Ann Cunningham.

Memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Dodge City on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Adelia Hooley presiding. Memorials are suggested to Julius Williams Memorial Fund in care of the Swaim Funeral Home – 1901 Sixth Ave – Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
