Obituary

Kandy Trent died on the 17th of February 2010 in Wichita, Kansas at Wesley Medical Center. She was born on October 1st 1945 in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Robert Trent, Sr. and Betty(Cecil) Trent, both long time residents of Dodge City.

She lived in Los Angeles as a child and often spoke about the wonderful days of California. She then moved to Dodge City with her parents and has resided here since. She married Stanley Wallis on June 1st, 1962 and had three children, Robin LaRue of Boca Raton, Florida, Chelly Harris of Boise, Idaho, and Brent Wallis of Lawrence, Kansas. She remarried and had three additional children, Jessica Marchewka of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Shane Trent and Joey Trent of Dodge City. She is also survived by her brothers, Robert (Bobby) Trent Jr., Jack Trent, and Fritz Trent all of Dodge City; and, her grandchildren, Misti, Allison, Courtney, Taylor, Jaya and Caleb. She cherished her many relatives and was proceded in death by her loving parents.

Kandy loved her family. They were her life. She liked spending time telling stories with those closest to her. She would always extend herself to those in need and touched many with her acts of kindness. A phone call to Kandy could make all the difference in a day. She worked as a hair dresser for many years in Dodge City and retired from New Chance Inc. as a residential staff member.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City with Rev. Valisa Meyer presiding. There will be no public viewing as cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register from 9:00 AM -5:00 PM on Friday, February 19, 2010 at the funeral home. A private family burial will take place at a later date at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Memorial contributions can be made to the Kandy Kay Trent Memorial Fund in care of Swaim Funeral Home - 1901 Sixth Avenue -Dodge City, KS 67801.
