Obituary

Montezuma - Karen Sue Koehn was born to Lewis and Kleda (Dirks) Koehn on July 27, 1955 in Garden City.  She passed away peacefully in her sleep at Wesley Hospital in Wichita on May 18, 2021, at the age of sixty-five years.

Karen grew to womanhood in Montezuma. She accepted the Lord as her Savior at the age of 14 and was baptized by Daniel J. Koehn on January 14, 1969.  She was true to her vows until the Lord called her home. After high school, she completed nurse's training and obtained her lifelong dream of being an RN.  She worked in various hospital and elder care homes.  A highlight of her nursing career was spending two years in Window Rock, Arizona as their nurse.  The Navajo children held a special place in her heart. She cherished her Window Rock sisters for life.  In her later years she spent ten years filling a valuable place at the Mennonite Aid Plans.  She was an incredibly special sister and aunt to her brothers, nieces, and nephews, spending a lot of time, money, effort, and love on them all.  Each one was dear to her. Living alone, she immensely enjoyed her cats, feeding birds, and watching nature.

Karen is survived by her older brother Charles Koehn of Montezuma; a twin brother Kenneth and Sevena Koehn of Dodge City; a younger brother, Dick and Glenda Koehn of Montezuma; and a sister-in-law Kathleen Flemister of Winton, California; her nieces and nephews, Brent and Jenny Koehn, Marla and Darcy Isaac, Roy and Rachel Koehn, Timothy Koehn all of Montezuma.  Janita and Tyler Schmidt of Albany, Oregon; Nicole Miller of Swan River, Manitoba; Katlyn and Bruce Morales of Bredenbury, Saskatchewan; Jonathan Koehn and fiancée Amber Brasier of Leland, Mississippi; Chad and Charissa Koehn, and Kalem Koehn all of Halstead;  a very special aunt, Opal Giesbrecht; and a special cousin, Sueanne Koehn both of Montezuma. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Kleda; nephew, Dallas; and great nephew, Trey.
