ENSIGN - Katherine Sutton, 93, died January 9, 2014 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. She was born on September 23, 1920 at Cave, the daughter of Alonzo J. and Margaret Rosanna (Ryan) Sutton.

Katherine was born and reared on the family farm and was a graduate of Ensign Rural High School. Miss Sutton stayed on the family farm her whole life, where she was a caregiver to her family. She worked for the Montezuma Press as an Ensign news correspondent. Katherine enjoyed crafts, flowers, wildlife and family history.

She was an active member of the Ensign United Methodist Church where she served as the Sunday School Treasurer, a member of the Southwest Area Council of Aging where she served as the Ensign representative and a charter member of the Cave Homemakers Club.

Katherine is survived a sister-in-law, Gevene Sutton of Ellinwood; nieces and nephews, Rosanne King, Dale Sutton, Marilyn Davis, Mollie Mease, Marie Waters, Bobby Sutton, Sharon McCoy, Kathryn Jose, Steve Sutton, Wanda Zortman, and Martin Menzor; and a host of great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Louis Earl, Lynn, Harold, Albert, Caleb and Lloyd Sutton; two nephews, Jimmy and Timothy Sutton.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Monday, January 13, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. with Pastor Brad McCoy presiding. Burial will follow at Cave Cemetery in Gray County. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Sunday, January 12, 2014 from Noon to 6:00 P.M..
