Obituary

Wright – Kathleen Lutz, 75, died January 22, 2024 at Hodgeman County Nursing Home.

Born to John (J.W.) and Eunice (Plantz) Minor April 16, 1948. She grew up in the Bloom Community. She graduated Minneola High School May 1966. She went to Dodge City Community Jr. College earning an Associate's Degree, then Southwestern College earning a Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1970. Her first teaching job was in Albuquerque N.M. at Harwood an all-girls boarding school, then taught for a few years at Shallowater in Scott City and then at Ensign Elementary. From there she taught at Sacred Heart Cathedral School then moved to D.C. Middle School and then Comanche Middle School for a total of 33 years. In 2000-2001 she got her Master's Degree in Curriculum Development.

She was active in 4-H as a rocketry leader, computer and fishing leader, a member of St. Andrew Parish and Altar Society. Her favorite hobbies were fishing, cooking, reading and watching movies on t.v.

Kathleen met the love of her life in 1973 while working as a welder for Speed King Manufacturing. She and Steve were married October 12, 1974. Together they had three children: Joseph (Dorothy) Lutz of Overland Park, Jason (Rebecca) Lutz of Spearville and Heather (David) Blackwell of Americus. She has one step grandson, Leo OKwiri; grandson, James Lutz and grand-daughter Zoe Lutz. She left 14 nieces and 11 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Philip and Barbara Lutz; brother, Floyd; brother– in-law, Doug Mills and sister Jeanine Mills; brother-in-law, Philip Lutz, Jr. and niece and nephew Ben and Elaina Morton.

Funeral service will be held at St. Andrew Parish of Wright on February 3, 2024 at 10:30 AM with Fr. Ted Stoecklein presiding. Burial of ashes will follow at St. Andrew's Cemetery in Wright. Vigil will be Friday February 2, 2024 at 7 PM at St. Andrew Parish of Wright. Memorials are suggested to the St. Andrew's Cemetery Fund in care of the funeral home.
