Dodge City - Kathryn (Kay) F. Woods, 87, died March 11, 2014 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains in Dodge City. She was born on August 5, 1926 in Weatherford, Oklahoma, the daughter of William and Florence J. (Grossharth) Troxel.

Kathryn was raised in Weatherford, Oklahoma, graduating from Weatherford High School. She then attended and graduated from the Clinton School of Nursing in Oklahoma. On November 8, 1947, she married Jack Woods in Weatherford, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on January 17, 2013. Kathryn worked as a nurse from 1949 thru 1989 at Trinity Hospital and Humana Hospital. At the time of her retirement, she was serving as the Director of Nursing at Humana Hospital in Dodge City.

She was a member of the Church of Christ of Dodge City.

Kay is survived by two sons, Leroy Woods and wife Glenda of Dodge City and Curtis Woods and wife Barb of Lawrence; two daughters, Rita Nuss and husband Roland of Hutchinson and Linda Blackburn and husband Brad of Ardmore, Oklahoma; one brother, William Troxel, Westminster, Colorado; one sister, Shirley Lou Olson of Altus, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Jack, she is preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, on Friday, March 14, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. with Mr. Anthony Lyons presiding. Burial will follow at Greencrest Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, March 13, 2014 from Noon to 8:00 P.M. with the family receiving friends from 4:30 P.M. - 6:00 P.M.
