Obituary

Dodge City - Kathleen Kay Molitor, 57, died December 30, 2018 at home, southeast of Spearville.  She was born on September 12, 1961 in Linn, the daughter of Delmer and Vi (Dittmer) Kohlmeier.

Kathy received the gift of Holy Baptism on September 24, 1961 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Linn.  In May of 1975 she publically confessed her faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior and was confirmed.  Kathy was later united in marriage to Kirk Molitor on November 17, 1984.  Together they have two children; Megan and Marc.

Kathy graduated from high school in Kinsley, and went on to receive her bachelor's degree in Education from Fort Hays State University.  She substitute taught grade school through high school classes for many years.  Her passion in life was raising her children and staying at home with them during their adolescent years.  She was an outstanding wife, mother, grandmother, cook, and grain cart driver; the list goes on and on.  Kathy enjoyed traveling with her family, time spent at their family pond, and going on walks along the Arkansas River.  She also loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren in recent years.

She was an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Dodge City for over 25 years.   Her areas of ministry included leading youth group, evangelism, and helping form two Alcoholics Anonymous groups.

Survivors include Kirk Molitor of Spearville; children, Megan (Molitor) Saunders and husband Cory of Manhattan, and Marc Molitor and wife Brianna of Spearville; two granddaughters, Annabelle and Alice; her mother Vi of Hutchinson; four brothers, Allen Kohlmeier and wife Kristi of Kinsley, Keith Kohlmeier and wife Marlene of Wichita, Lyle Kohlmeier and wife Lori of Strong City, and Lowell Kohlmeier and wife Stacy of Manhattan. She was preceded in death by her father, Delmer.

Funeral service will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Dodge City on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Randall Jahnke presiding.  Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Offerle.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Dodge City on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM with the family present from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  The casket will remain closed at the church on Friday.
