Dodge City - Kay L Price, 85, died July 31, 2021 at Western Plains Regional Hospital in Dodge City. She was born on August 1, 1935 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Arthur and Fern (Huffman) Brown.
Kay grew up in Wichita and attended Wichita schools, graduating from Wichita East High School. She married Walter Price on July 5, 1970 in Dodge City. He precedes her in death.
Kay devoted herself to her family. She was a protective mom and a proud grandma and loved to do activities with her grandkids specific to their interests. Kay enjoyed music and made lifelong friendships through her membership in Sweet Adelines. She worked as a para educator for Northwest Elementary School and later worked with the Child Development Center at DCCC. Kay had a great ability to bring a book to life and created some treasured memories reading to her kids and grandkids. She also enjoyed crafting, shopping, browsing dogs up for adoption and sharing laughs with those around her.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday School classes for preschool ages.
Kay is survived by her three daughters, Mindy (Jude) Wilson of St Marys; Cindy Frankowski of Plains; Kathie (Carl) Daniel of Cypress, Texas and two sons, Lee Freeman of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Jeff (Heather) Freeman, Anchorage, Alaska. Grandchildren are Courtney (Corey) Hull, Blake (Jennica) Price, Challen Frankowski, Mikaleigh (Lance) Woodward, Devany Wilson, Brenna Wilson, Tug Wilson, Sabine (Robert) Lovett, Victoria (Josh) Bohler, Adam Freeman, LeAeron (Michael) Yen, Madison Daniel, Roman (Bechut) Freeman, Nicholas (Amber) Freeman and Amber (Ben) Parker as well as 21 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter Price; first husband Richard Mabry; daughter Melissa Mabry; two sons, Bryan Mabry and Robert Freeman; and brother Victor Brown.
Funeral service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, August 11, 2021at 10:30 AM with Mr. Jeff Hiers presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from Noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Sweet Adelines or the Ford County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
