Obituary

Kenneth R. Blair, 77, died Thursday, July 8, 2010 at his home in Dodge City. He was born on December 12, 1932 in Amarillo, Texas, the son of Floyd M. and Clarice F. (Keeney) Blair.

Kenneth graduated from Woodward High School in Woodward, Oklahoma in 1951. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a staff sargeant from 1952 to 1956. On June 12, 1954, he married LoElla Van Dorn in Woodward. He returned to Woodward where he helped his dad manage the Open Air Market Grocery. He then went to work at the Woodward post office until 1965. They moved to Dodge City in 1965 where he built, owned, and operated the Sonic Drive-In where it is still located today. Through the years, they had part ownerships in several area Sonics. Kenneth loved the Lord and his family. He loved to hunt, fish, and spend time at their cabin at Table Rock Lake.

He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church of Dodge City.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, LoElla M. Blair of Dodge City; four daughters, Rebecca Trebilcock and husband Randy of Enid, Oklahoma, Kenetha Askew and husband Bob of Goddard, Teressa Everhart and husband Todd of Dodge City, and Yalanda Tieben and husband Benny of Dodge City; one sister, Dixie Robinson and husband Artie of Woodward, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren, Selena Hopkins and husband Mike, Kassia Meadows and husband Jason, Trevor Askew and wife Sara, Hailey Sperry and husband Reed, Taryn Myers and husband Dylan, Shelby Ramirez and husband Antonio, Tristin Everhart, Blair Askew, B.J. Tieben, Tanner Tieben, and Shayla Tieben; six great grandchildren, Aurora and Breklyn Meadows, Cohen Myers, Carter Askew, Samantha Hopkins, and Riley Sperry. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be held at First Southern Baptist Church on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Greg Savage presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, on Sunday, July 11, 2010 from noon to 6:00 PM. Memorials can be made to First Southern Baptist Building Fund in care of the funeral home.
