Dodge City -Kenneth A. Masten, 63, died Thursday, October 22, 2009 at Via Christi St. Francis Campus at Wichita as a result of a truck accident. He was born on February 27, 1946 at Garden City, the son of Jake and Trudy (Thomas) Masten. He lived in many places growing up as his father was in the military. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 thru 1964. On November 20, 1976 he married Rosella G. Schawe at Dodge City. She survives. Mr. Masten worked for Huft Trucking of Dodge City. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was a member of Howard Gotschall Post #1714, V.F.W. of Dodge City.

Survivors include his wife Rosella G. Masten of Dodge City; three sons, Albert Masten and Kevin Masten both of Dodge City, and Jake Masten of Lincoln, Nebraska; a daughter Victoria Masten of Lincoln, Nebraska; a brother Rex Kreie of Las Vegas, Nevada; a sister Vickey Kreie of San Diego, California and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday October 26, 2009 at Swaim Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Skalsky officiating. Burial will follow the service at Kansas Veterans Cemetery of Ft. Dodge with military rites by Howard Gotscall Post #1714, V.F.W.. Visitation will be from 8:30 A.M. to service time on Monday October 26, 2009.
