Dodge City - Kenneth Ira Norton, 88, died December 3, 2018 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains, Dodge City. He was born on August 10, 1930 at Dighton, the son of Ira and Nellie (Graves) Norton.
Kenneth was a graduate of Ford High School. On July 15, 1950 he married Ruth Melia at Dodge City. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. A longtime area resident, Kenneth was a brick mason and also owned a custom hay operation for many years. Mr. Norton later worked for the City of Dodge City in the water department until his retirement.
He was a member of the Wilroads Gardens Christian Church.
Kenneth is survived by four sons, Don Norton (Karen) of Wichita, Kent Norton of Wichita, Kevin Norton (Barbara) of Dodge City, and Kris Norton (Susie) of Lawrence; eleven grandchildren, Kenneth Norton (Melinda), Diana Norton, Kylie Norton, Chase Norton, Eric Norton, Zach Norton, Brett Norton, Derek Norton, Justin Norton, Will Norton, and Lily Norton; and one great grandson, Caleb Norton. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth Norton; a great granddaughter, Mia Nicole Norton; and a daughter-in-law, Kim Setty-Norton.
Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 2:00 PM with Mr. Jeff Hiers presiding. Burial will follow at Ford Cemetery in Ford. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Thursday, December 6, 2018 from Noon to 8:00PM, the family will receive visitors from 6:00 - 8:00PM.
