Dodge City - Kenneth Joe Plush, 83, died February 11, 2024. He was born on July 29, 1940, in Beloit, Kansas, the son of Lloyd and Dorothy (Brazeal) Plush. On July 2, 1966, he married Betty Follingstad. They were married 57 years.
Kenneth grew up in Glasco, Kansas. He played football at the University of Kansas and Ft. Hays State University, where he received his bachelor's degree. He received his master's degree from Western Colorado University. Kenneth served in the US Army 1962-1965, stationed in England.
After being a firefighter in Wichita, Kenneth moved to Hays where he earned his degree and then to Dodge City. He taught driver's education and physical education and coached various sports during his nearly 35 years working for USD 443. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, photography, wood working, watching KU basketball, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Kenneth is survived by his wife Betty; daughter Dr. Tamara Plush (Victoria, Canada); son Shane Plush and wife Donna (Wichita); grandchildren Lauren Plush (fiancé Anthony Rhinehart) and Kade Plush; and sister Jeanne Plush Cadman (Alexandria, Arkansas). He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Gary Plush and Lloyd Graydon Plush.
Graveside service will be held at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at Ft. Dodge on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 1:00 PM with Dusty Cookson presiding. Military honors will be provided by KSARNG Military Honors and SWKS Veteran's Funeral Honor Guard.
