Dodge City - Kimberly Ruth Evel, 45, died June 14, 2013 after a long illness at St. John's Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri. She was born on November 12, 1967 in Seoul, Korea and was adopted at the age of three by Russell Warren and Joan Rae (Southworth) Weaver.
She was raised in Dodge City where she attended school. Kimberly graduated from Dodge City High School in 1986. She excelled in art and won several awards for her paintings. Kimberly married Pat Evel in 1986 and they moved to Missouri. While living in Missouri, they started their own trucking company. After her divorce, she met Olan McCarty who brought a gentle peace to Kim's final years. She enjoyed antiquing and gardening.
Kimberly is survived by one brother, Paul Weaver of Topock, Arizona; a nephew, Shaun Weaver; two nieces, Celena and Cierra Weaver; as well as many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Heather Nicole Evel.
Graveside memorial service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
