Jetmore – LaDonna Irene Brown, 80, died December 12, 2019 at Minneola District Hospital in Minneola, Kansas. She was born on December 16, 1938 at Dodge City, Kansas the daughter of Oscar Ernest and Frances E. (Mall) Smith.
She married George Brown at Barbers Point Naval Air Base Chapel in Oahu, Hawaii on September 1, 1957. They were transferred to Annapolis Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. After George was discharged from the Navy they moved to Bloom, Kansas where they farmed until 1986. LaDonna worked a short time at KEDD Radio, was a full time farmer/rancher was a full time mom and was very influential in the lives of many young people looking for guidance. After 1986 George and LaDonna moved to their current farm in Hodgeman County. LaDonna worked at WalMart in Dodge City for eighteen years, until she retired.
George and LaDonna worked together restoring antique tractors and participated in many tractor shows and parades in Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska; including the annual Dodge City Days Parade and the annual Beef Empire Days Parade. The pinnacle of their tractor events was the annual 3i Show in Dodge City where they displayed their fleet of antique tractors to be enjoyed by all.
She was a member of the National John Deere Two Cylinder Tractor Club, Tired Iron Tractor Club of Kinsley and was a 4-H Leader for the Minneola Boosters 4-H Club.
She is survived by her husband George Brown Sr. of the home and her puppy Squiggles; three daughters Valerie Brown-Greenly and husband Bruce of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; Pamela Brown-Tyler and husband George Tyler Jr. of Dodge City; Wendy Brown-Dunagan and husband Travis of Holcomb; one son George W. Brown Jr. of Edmond, Oklahoma as well as eight grandchildren Emily Brown, Christine Greenly, Bethany Loidolt, Anthony Greenly, Ashley Huffman, April Pogue, Derick Tyler and Scott Dunagan. As well as nine great grandchildren Maizey and Tyler Huffman, Autumn Klein, Ethan and Chase Pogue, Hadlie Tyler, Dylan Tyler, Breckyn Tyler. and Tegan Loidolt. She is also survived by a brother Dennis Smith of Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents one sister Pauline Goodman and two granddaughters Laura Faith and Olivia Hope Dunagan.
Funeral service will be held at Christ The King Lutheran Church on Wednesday December 18, 2019 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Valerie Brown-Greenly; Senior Pastor at Peace Lutheran Church of Coon Rapids, Minnesota presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children in care of the funeral home.
