Larry Marshall Flowers, aged 82, passed away on October 30, 2025, at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs. Born on June 25, 1943, in Montezuma, he was the son of Cecil and Doris (Davis) Flowers. Larry spent his early years in Gray County, attending schools in Ingalls and Montezuma, and graduated from Montezuma High School.
He began his career at Burke Shoe Store in Dodge City and later in Salina, before moving to Grand Rapids, Michigan, to continue in shoe sales. Eventually, Larry returned to the family farm, dedicating many years to farming and ranching. He also worked at DM&M feeders near Cimarron and later at Wal-Mart in Dodge City. Larry had a passion for horses, guns, and fast cars.
He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City. Larry is survived by his sons, Michael Flowers and wife Tomo of Palatine, Illinois, and Rodney Flowers of Dodge City; his grandchildren, Nicolas & Lisa Flowers and Owen Wesley; his sister, Barbara Norton of Meade; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Venetta & Ivan Wilson and Karen Dotson.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Cremation has taken place, and there will be no public visitation. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Larry Flowers Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home. Thoughts and memories can be shared in the online guestbook at swaimfuneralchapel.com.
