Dodge City - Larry Lee McElwee, 81, died January 22, 2024 at SunPorch of Dodge City.  He was born on July 2, 1942 at Schaller, Iowa the son of Fred and Opal (McJimsey) McElwee.

Larry grew up in Houston, Texas and graduated from Galena Park High School. He served in the United States Air Force. Larry loved people and their stories which helped him in his many management positions throughout his life. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing in his free time.

Larry is survived by his children, Phillip McElwee and wife Amy of Tucson, Arizona and Samantha Ricke and husband Shea of Wright; four grandchildren, Taylor Ricke of Minneola, Lawson Ricke of Wright, Will McElwee and Kate McElwee of Tucson, Arizona; and bonus daughter, Yvonne Wheatley and family of Moundridge. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and one sister.

Graveside service will be held at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 1:00 PM with Joel Túchez presiding. Military rites provided by McConnell Air Force Base Military Honors and SWKS Veterans' Funeral Honor Guard. There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place.
