Obituary

FOWLER - Larry Joe Sturgeon, 83, died December 30, 2018 at Minneola District Hospital, Minneola.  He was born on July 1, 1935 at Dodge City, the son of Francis Edward and Josephine E. (Lutz) Sturgeon.

Larry attended the Wilburn one room school house through the 5 th grade. He was a graduate of Dodge City High School. Larry then attended Kansas State University where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He graduated from Kansas State with a Bachelor degree. Larry served in the United States Army national guard. On June 4, 1955 he married Elizabeth Maple at Dodge City. Larry was a longtime farmer in Ford and Meade Counties and also was an owner in the Double B&S Feedyard.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dodge City and former Board Member of the Federal Landbank.

Larry is survived by a daughter, Laura Devine and husband Jim of Fowler; a son, Michael Sturgeon and wife Annie of Kinsley; four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; and one brother, Ralph Sturgeon of Harrison, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elizabeth; and a grandson, Ryon Sturgeon.

Memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on Friday January 4, 2019 at 1:30 PM. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. There is no public visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity at Kansas State University or Minneola District Hospital both in care of the funeral home.
