IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Laurie Ellen
Mctague
August 27, 1957 – January 20, 2025
Laurie Ellen (Henshall) McTague, 67, passed away on January 20, 2025, after a long illness. Born on August 27, 1957, on Long Island in New York City, Laurie spent her final years near her daughters in Dodge City and Dighton, Kansas, where she was surrounded by family.
Laurie had an incredible gift for dark humor, a love of cooking, and a lifelong appreciation for music. She was fiercely independent and ornery, making those around her laugh even in the toughest times. She also proudly served her country in the United States Air Force while raising her young family.
She is survived by her four children: Peggy Lucas, Brett Lucas, Rhonald Lucas, III., and Cally White, as well as her grandchildren Rhonald Lucas IV; John Ince; Jade Mellecker, Emberly, Trinitey, and Alexis White; Landon Bretz. She also leaves behind her brothers, Jeff and John Henshall, her sister, Diane Henshall, and friends and extended family members. Laurie was preceded in death by her mother, Lucy Henshall Tyree, her stepfather, Carl Tyree, and her husband, Army veteran Richard McTague, who passed in 2021.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on March 28, 2025, at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at Fort Dodge, where Laurie will be laid to rest with full military honors. Military Honors will be provided by McConnell AFB Honor Guard and SWKS Veterans Funeral Honor Guard. Laurie's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at the Robert J. Dole Veterans Administration Hospital in Wichita, Kansas, and the compassionate team at St. Catherine's Hospital, whose care and kindness meant so much in her final days.
