Dodge City - LaVada Marie "Betty" Behee, 89, died December 28, 2013 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. She was born on August 1, 1924 in Kewanee, IL the daughter of Clarence and Golda (Nickell) Cooley.
Betty moved with her family throughout the United States as her father's job moved them often. She married Fred Roy in Louisiana. He preceded her in death. Betty then married Clifford Frederick Behee in 1960 in Dodge City. He preceded her in death on December 11, 2008. Betty enjoyed playing bingo, fishing and watching baseball and wrestling. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and attending as many activities of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews as she could.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. of Dodge City.
Betty is survived by one son, David Bruce Roy of Colfax, Louisiana; two step daughters, Marlene Delay and husband David and Michelle Colby and husband Glen both of Great Yarmoth, England; one sister, Kaye Lampe and husband Bob of Dodge City; one brother, Roy Cooley and wife Judy of Lago Vista, Texas; five grandchildren, including Dave Roy and wife Christa of Dodge City; and five great grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ray Cooley; and one nephew.
Memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. with Mr. Jeff Hiers presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Manor in care of Swaim Funeral Home.
