Lawrence E Winger,63,died Monday, November 2,2009 at Via Christi St.Francis Campus at Wichita,KS. He was born on November 27,1945 at Dodge City, KS the son of Dwight and Amy (Jennings) Winger.

He married Patricia Lee on June 12, 1968 at Dodge City, she survives. Larry was engaged in farming for many years and later worked for the Ford County Road and Bridge Department. He was very active in the community, serving on the Minneola School Board, Minneola Coop Board, 4-H Board, and also as a Trustee for the First United Methodist Church. In later years spending time with his children and grandchildren was his hobby.



Survivors include his wife Patricia Winger, one son Eric "Dwight" Winger of Dodge City, two daughters Tammy Merrimann of Faith, S.D. and Sara Stateler of Dodge City, mother Amy Winger of Dodge City, one brother David Winger of Sublette, two sisters Patty Owens of Dodge City and Paula Baumann of Hutchinson. He also survived by six grand children and two step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, one grandchild Kalab Stateler, and his grandparents L.R. and Viola Winger.

Friends may sign the register book from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Swaim Funeral Home.
There will be a private family memorial service held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to Larry Winger Memorial Fund in care of Swaim Funeral Home 1901 Sixth Ave Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
