Obituary

Lawrence Orle Olson, 91, died Friday, November 12, 2010 his home in Dodge City. He was born on November 14, 1918 in Mullinville, the son of Ole Henry and Emma (Price) Olson.

Ole graduated from Mullinville High School and Salt City Business College of Hutchinson. He married Mildred Janzen on November 16, 1940 in Hutchinson. She preceded him in death on May 10, 2008. Mr. Olson served three years in WW II in the 42nd Infantry, "Rainbow Division", serving in France, Germany, and Austria. Ole with Mildred and daughter Connie moved to Dodge City in 1946 and was a paint salesman for 12 years and the manager of Sherwin Williams Paint Store for 24 years before retiring in 1984. He delivered Meals on Wheels to residents of Dodge City for 14 years.

Mr. Olson was a member of First United Methodist Church of Dodge City, the Trinity Board, Lions Club, a lifetime member of Howard Gotschall Post #1714 V.F.W., and the American Legion.

Ole is survived by one daughter, Connie Nixon and husband Robert of Tehachapi, California; two sons, Ronald Olson and wife Tracy of Plano, Texas and Donald Olson and wife Cathy of Cumming, Georgia; one sister, Esther Anderson of Burlington; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Dodge City on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Lance Carrithers presiding. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Mullinville with military rites by Howard Gotschall Post #1714 V.F.W. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 from noon to 8:00 PM.
