IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Leroy
Koehn
March 4, 1934 – November 11, 2023
LeRoy Koehn was born March 4, 1934, to Vivian and Effie (Loucks) Koehn in Dodge City, Kansas. He peacefully passed away in his room at Bethel Home in Montezuma, Kansas, on November 11, 2023, reaching the age of eighty-nine years.
His parents left western Kansas when he was a small boy and moved to Lone Tree, Kansas, where he spent his boyhood. He gave his heart to God and was baptized at the Lone Tree Church on April 17, 1946. His family moved back to western Kansas when he was seventeen, and a few years later, he went to 1W service in Baltimore, Maryland. While there, he met Neva Louise Eicher, and they were married on October 12, 1958, at the Newark Congregation in Ithaca, Michigan.
Dad's first love as an occupation was carpentry work, and he loved building on houses for people and building furniture projects for his children which we as children cherish today. Dad lived a structured life, rising early, and if we children were allowed to sleep in, we could still hear him having devotions and reading the Bible with Mom before breakfast and a new work day. Dad always cheerfully greeted each new day with joy.
Mom and Dad lived in several different congregations enjoying their time and fellowship at each place until Mom's health began to fail. In the summer of 2014, Mom and Dad moved to Bethel Home so Mom could be cared for. Dad accepted these changes in life and was very glad and thankful for the special care Mom received. Mom's passing in November of 2019, and his son's sudden sad passing in August of 2022, began to create in Dad a growing desire to go Home and see them again. With tears, Dad would tell us, "I miss them so much and want to see them again, and with God's help, I will." We as family feel God has granted him that wish.
Left to mourn his passing is a son, Leonard and Carol Koehn, Scotia, Nebraska; daughter-in-law, Starla Koehn, Goltry, Oklahoma; two daughters, Karen and Lance Koehn, Pryor, Oklahoma; and Marci and Layne Nichols, Gentry, Arkansas; sisters, Elva, Wilcox, Arizona and Margaret, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; brothers, Weldon, Greeley, Colorado; Alton and Judy, Detroit, Texas; and Willard and Diane, Flagstaff, Arizona; and sister-in-law, Janice and Lee Koehn, Uniontown, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, one brother, four brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law
