LeRoy C. Slattery, 72, died Monday, June 7, 2010 at Western Plains Medical Complex at Dodge City, KS. He was born on September 26, 1937 at Dodge City, KS the son of Clem and LaMoile (Perkins) Slattery.
He married Janet Droste on February 5, 1966 at Dodge City, she survives. He worked for Case Power and Equipment until 1965, that same year he opened LeRoy's Repair at the family farm. He was engaged in farming most of his life. Mr. Slattery also served as a medic in the National Guard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trap shooting. Mr. Slattery loved spending time with his grandchildren.He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe and served as a trustee on the Royal Township Board and was also on the Advisory Board of the Dodge City Coop.
Survivors include wife Janet Slattery of Dodge City; two sons Wesley Slattery and wife Debby and Wayne Slattery and friend Miranda Kolbeck all of Dodge City. One daughter Wendy Waller and husband Jeff of Dodge City; three brothers Bill Slattery and wife Corky of Dodge City;Kenneth Slattery and wife Judy of Missouri;Richard Slattery of Oklahoma. One sister Della Mae Zveglich and husband Frank of Dodge City. He is also survived by 5 Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Vigil service will be held at Cathedral Of Our Lady Of Guadalupe on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at the Cathedral Of Our Lady Of Guadalupe in Dodge City on Friday June 11, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Ted Skalsky presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City, KS. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, June 10, 2010 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Memorials can be made to Sacred Heart School or to the LeRoy Slattery Grandchildrens Educational Fund in care of the funeral home.
