Obituary

Dodge City - Leslie R. Houser, 93, died April 16, 2014 at his home in Dodge City. He was born on September 25, 1920 in Dodge City, KS the son of Clay and Alvina (Senger) Houser.

Les is was lifetime resident of Dodge City. He graduated from Dodge City High School. Les served in the United States Air Force during World War II from 1942 to 1945. On March 16, 1943, he married Betty Aistrup in Dodge City. She preceded him in death on May 3, 1993. Les worked for the United States Weather Bureau for 39 years until his retirement.  Les was a well known square dance caller and round dance cuer for over 50 years.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Boothill Iris Club both of Dodge City.

Les is survived by a sister, Velma Houser of Dodge City and many nieces and nephews. In an addition to his wife, Betty, Les is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Lance Carrithers presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City with military rites by Howard Gotschall Post #1714 V.F.W. and KSARNG Military Honors. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Monday, April 21, 2014 from noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
