Obituary

Dodge City - Lillian Mae Fitzsimmons, 86, died October 23, 2014 at Trinity Manor in Dodge City. She was born on January 27, 1928 in rural Ford County, the daughter of William and Gladys (Trent) Hessman.

Mrs. Fitzsimmons grew up on the family farm near Dodge City and graduated from Dodge City High School. She married Donald E. Fitzsimmons Sr. on February 7, 1944 in Jetmore. He preceded her in death on December 3, 1987. She was active in the cub scouts as well as the girl scouts and was a PTA home room mother.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star as well as the Loyal Order of the Moose both of Dodge City.

She is survived by five sons, Don Fitzsimmons of Dodge City, Troy Fitzsimmons of Alaska, Kurt Fitzsimmons of Dodge City, Tracy Fitzsimmons of Garden City and Bart Fitzsimmons of Dodge City; two daughters, Judy Heble of LeVeta, Colorado and Marsha Horn of Virginia Beach, Virginia. She is also survived by five sisters, Rosemary Rinne of Sycamore, Wilma McCollough of Dodge City, Ruby Cook of Dodge City, Darlene Hooker of Dodge City, and Sandy Salmans of Cimarron; one brother, Frank Hessman of Eugene, Oregon; nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Robert Hessman; a grandson, Todd Fitzsimmons; and a son-in-law, Conrad Heble.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. Burial will follow at Greencrest Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 12:00 to 6:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Manor Nursing Home or Ford County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
