Lillian Lorraine Spohr, 83, died Friday, March 5, 2010 at Good Samaritan Center in Dodge City. She was born on March 4, 1927 in Dodge City, the daughter of Herman and Pauline (Heronemus) Maskus.
On July 23, 1945, Lorraine married Herbert Spohr in Dodge City. He prededed her in death on March 8, 2003. In 1954, they moved to the farm south of Dodge City. Lorraine and Herbert enjoyed traveling. They took several trips abroad and many road trips to various parts of the United States. She became an expert seamstress and enjoyed making her own clothes. After her children were raised, she took up painting as a hobby.
She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church of Dodge City.
Lorraine is survived by two sons, Norman Spohr and wife Barbara and Dennis Spohr and wife Marla both of Dodge City; two daughters, Beverly Blew and husband Darrell of Dodge City and Annanette Covalt and husband Steve of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one brother, Milton Maskus of Karval, Colorado; one sister, Marilyn Freeman of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. In addition to her husband Herbert, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Neil and Noble Maskus; and one nephew, Keith Maskus.
Funeral service will be held at Christ The King Lutheran Church, Dodge City, on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Kent Groethe presiding. Burial will follow at Christ the King Lutheran Cemetery in Ford County. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, on Monday, March 8, 2010 from noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials can be made to the Good Samaritan Center or to Christ the King Lutheran Church in care of the funeral home.
