Montezuma - Linda Sue Nightengale Isaac was born to Harlan and Elsie (Penner) Nightengale on October 20, 1948 at Fairview Oklahoma. She passed away on February 15, 2014 at Western Plains Medical complex, reaching the age of 65 years. Her death was caused by a car accident. Her last day was a happy one, spent shopping in preparation for a much anticipated trip to Ohio to see her new twin grandsons.
Her growing up years were spent with her four brothers and one sister. She and her sister Rita were close in age and have always shared a special relationship. She received her education at Progressive School in Major County, Oklahoma. She later graduated from Fairview High School with high honors in academics. Basketball was a highlight of her school years and in later years she still amazed her children with her free throws.
Mom was baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite on January 14, 1961 holding the true faith dear until the end. On November 8, 1970, she was united in marriage to John Isaac of Montezuma Kansas, sharing the joys and sorrows of life for 43 short years. Two daughters and one son were born to this union.
Mom and Dad lived at Ingalls, Kansas, farming and ranching until 1980. Folks then moved our family to Missouri where we all made many life-long friends. In 1987, we moved back to Montezuma, Kansas where folks called home until the present.
Mom took joy in homemaking, and her home was her haven. Her children's happiness was very important to her. We all felt secure in her love and understanding. Each grandchild was dearly loved. We cherish the individual attention she gave to each of us and our children. She was a good listener. Our problems became her problems and she prayed often for us. Mom was a soft hearted, kind and caring person, sensitive to the feelings of others. Her friends meant a lot to her.
A special time in Mom and Dad's life was Dad's retirement. During the past year they enjoyed life to the fullest, traveling to different places and visiting each of the children in their homes. Even though Mom's health didn't permit her to be as active as she wished, we never heard her complain about the pain that she daily experienced.
Recently Mom made a special effort to make sure her way was clear. We believe she is at rest with the Lord and we look forward to meeting her again.
Those left to cherish memories are her husband John Isaac of Montezuma; three children, Keri Koehn and husband Ron of Fort Sumner, New Mexico, Brent Isaac and wife Tiffany of Delta, Colorado, and Lisa Lehman and husband Henry of Jeromesville, Ohio; one sister, Rita Schmidt of Harwood, Missouri; two brothers, Lyndon Nightengale of Fairview, Oklahoma and Jon Nightengale and wife Debbie of Bentonville, Arkansas; and nine grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and twin brothers, Warren Larry and Lauren Terry Nightengale.

Burial will be at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Cedar Cemetary in Fairview, Oklahoma. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Montezuma on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.. Angel Mother
There was an angel on earth-
She was our mother,
Her love was warm and true,
She loved us like no other.
She listened to our troubles,
She prayed for us each day.
One day the Lord reached down,
And took our mother away.
We're lost without you, Mom,
How will we face the years?
We feel we cannot bear it,
Our eyes are filled with tears.
It comforts us to think
You're watching from above,
And still touching our lives
With your tender mother love.
Now you're heaven's angel.
Your body is free from pain.
We're thankful you're made new
And long to meet you again.
Thank you for your love, Mom,
No one can take your place.
And though we miss you here
We're glad you won the race.
