Dodge City - Linda Fay Taylor, 80, died June 14, 2023 at her home in Dodge City. She was born on November 4, 1942 in Blountstown, Florida the daughter of Marion and Peggy (Barton) Moody.
Linda was a graduate of Tavares High School in Tavares, Florida. On June 25, 1962, Linda was united in marriage to Charles Taylor, Sr. in Tavares. He preceded her in death on January 29, 2016.
Charles and Linda made their home in Florida while Charles completed his military career. Together, they raised two children, Charles "Chuck", Jr. and Jeanellil. Linda began her career of driving a school bus while in Florida. When the family moved to Dodge City in 1973, she continued driving bus for USD 443. She drove for 50 years before retirement.
Linda enjoyed gardening but her family was what was most important to her. She enjoyed traveling to Colorado to see her daughter and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Charles "Chuck" Taylor, Jr. and wife Ann of Dodge City; a daughter, Jeanellil Taylor of Evergreen, Colorado; grandsons, Christopher O'Gorman of Evergreen, Colorado, Matthew Taylor (Gentry) of Wichita and Adam Unruh (Jennifer) of Holcomb; granddaughters, Meikia Hacker (Corey) of Dodge City, Charlie Coetzee (Albe) of Garden City, and Miranda Unruh of Holcomb; great grandchildren, Braelynn, Mason, Bowen, Maverick, and Noah Taylor, Landon Bernich, Amariyah, Abel, and Maci Hacker, Kristopher Gillespie, Elijah and Mya Martinez, Aiden and Lily Coetzee, Exxi and Asia Unruh, Esaiah Banda, Aiyana Olivas, and Destiny, Freya, and Atreus Unruh. In addition to her husband, Linda is preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings, Ralph, Elmer, Hurcle, and Johnny Barton, Nell Taylor, Jeanette Lamb, and Lil Koenke .
Memorial service will be held at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery, Ft. Dodge on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 10:30 AM. There is no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice in care of Swaim Funeral Chapel – 1901 Sixth Ave – Dodge City, KS 67801.
