IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lizzie C.
Kanagy
November 14, 1929 – November 7, 2018
Montezuma - Lizzie Carolina Kanagy was born to Noah and Hettie Peachey on November 14, 1929 in Allensville, Pennsylvania. The Lord peacefully took her home in the morning, November 7, 2018 at the Bethel Home, Montezuma, Kansas. She was one week short of her eighty ninth birthday. She was the seventh in a family of eleven children.
Mother was married to Jacob Kanagy on November 23, 1950. To this union was born five daughters and two sons. They shared life's joys and sorrow for sixty years. Dad passed away on December 22, 2010, leaving mom alone for almost eight years.
In 1972, mother realized her lost condition and felt her need of a Savior. She called on God, surrendering her will and together with our dad they were blessed with peace. They were baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite and she embraced this faith to the end.
Lizzie spent her childhood years in the Allensville, Pennsylvania area. After she was married, they lived in various places and she enjoyed them all.
Mother truly was a homemaker. She was very hospitable, often having Sunday company. She enjoyed people, and enlivened the conversation with her delightful sense of humor. As each grandchild married, she pieced a quilt for each one of them. She was always ready to talk to her children and give encouragement. She was concerned for her family's spiritual condition and prayed for them.
In 2013, she moved to Montezuma, Kansas, and became a resident of Bethel Home. She enjoyed her stay there, and accepted her declining health without complaint.
Left with precious memories are her children, Hettie and Sam Peachey of Farmington, Kentucky, Nancy and Levi Hoover of Dumas, Arkansas, Liz and Jake Renno, Sumner, Texas, Rudy and Barb Kanagy of Homeworth, Ohio, Lydia and David Bender of Linden, Tennessee, Noah and Mavis Kanagy of Farmington, Kentucky, and Esther Kanagy of Montezuma, Kansas, thirty five grandchildren, one hundred twenty four great grandchildren, one brother, Steven N.
