Copeland - Lois Jean Jobe, 83, died April 13, 2021 at Bethel Home in Montezuma. She was born on September 22, 1937 in El Dorado, the daughter of Lester and Johanna (Bruer) Hemphill.
Lois spent her childhood in Ulysses. She graduated from Grant County Rural High School in 1955. In 1966, Lois married Billy Jobe and they lived in Manter, later moving to Copeland. They celebrated 54 years of marriage this past September. Lois was a devoted wife and mother. She never missed a school activity or ballgame. During the busy harvest seasons, Lois would join Bill at the elevator and help by weighing trucks. She enjoyed her flower gardens, KU basketball, Budweiser in a can, and was an avid dog lover. If you were lucky enough to call Lois a friend or family, you were truly blessed.
Lois is survived by her husband, Billy, of Copeland; four children, Terri Cook and husband, Darrel of Syracuse, Lynda Brickman and husband Troy of Colorado Springs, Scott Lane of Scott City, and Bryan Jobe of Kansas City; one brother, Don Calhoun of Gunnison, Colorado; 12 grandchildren, Leslie, Lee, Jay, Alyson, Chad, Alicia, Michelle, Brock, Jaden, Eli, Zach and Micah. She also had 16 great grandchildren. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Kathy Schwarzer; two daughters-in-law, Daphne Lane and Danielle Elam-Jobe; and a great granddaughter, Elizabeth Lane.
Graveside service will be held at Copeland Cemetery on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Doug Harris presiding. A book signing will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Montezuma on Monday, April 19, 2021 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Bethel Home or Copeland Cemetery in care of the funeral home in lieu of flowers. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
