LOIS M. TIMKEN

CIMARRON
Lois Maree Timken, 84, of Cimarron, died Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Western Plains Medical Complex at Dodge City, KS. She was born on August 30, 1924 at Cimarron, Kansas, the daughter of Frank Edward and Olga (Hardy) Timken.

She was a graduate from Cimarron High School in 1942. She attended Fort Hays State College. She taught elementary school in Oberlin and Cimarron. She later graduated from Kansas University with a B.S. in Fine Arts. She worked as an interior designer in Wichita, Kansas City, and St. Louis, Missouri. She returned to elementary school teaching in St. Louis. While there, she earned a Masters degree in Education from St. Louis University. Upon retirement, she returned to Cimarron.

She was a member of Cimarron United Methodist Church and the Kansas University Alumni Association.

Survivors include two brothers, John H. Timken of Cimarron, Frank Darrell Timken and wife Clarice Buttron Timken of Topeka, three nephews, Roger D. Timken and wife Judi of Dighton, Phillip D. Timken and wife Carolyn of North Newton, Mark D. Timken and wife Hye Kyung of Albany, California; one niece Elaine Ann Ford and husband Thomas of Wakarusa, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service will be held at Cimarron United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Kent Little presiding. Burial will follow at Cimarron Cemetery. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Cimarron, on Friday, January 9, 2009 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
