IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lola Jane
Koehn
January 6, 1932 – October 18, 2021
Montezuma - My dear wife, our mother, and grandmother Lola Jane Koehn, was born to Reuben and Alice Koehn on January 6, 1932 at Dodge City, Kansas. She peacefully went to her reward on October 18, 2021, reaching the age of 89 years.
When our mother was 3 years old, her family moved to Goltry, Oklahoma. There she received her education at Golden Valley Country School. We remember our mother relating how she and her siblings walked to school.
She was converted and then baptized by her Father, Reuben J Koehn on April 20, 1944. She was faithful to these vows till death.
Mother enjoyed her siblings and talked fondly of her youth years, including trips to Fairview and western Kansas with her brother Robert and sister Joan.
Our Mother and Dad were married on January 4, 1953 by her Father at Goltry, Oklahoma. They were blessed with sixty-eight years of marriage. Their honeymoon was two years of service in Roseburg, Oregon. This was a very special time for them. They then settled on a farm northwest of Montezuma. Six children were born to their home. Sorrow visited their home when their young son Doyle became sick during morning chores. Mom's diary says today Jesus paid us a visit and took our darling little Doyle to heaven with Him. Motherhood and the home were important to Mom, and she dedicated her life to that calling. We felt free to visit with our mother and she kept the lines of communication open. Prayer was an integral part of her life as she believed in God with an unwavering faith.
Our father was ordained into the gospel ministry in November of 1963. Mom fully supported Dad in his calling. She was a faithful keeper of the home. Mom enjoyed cooking and cleaning; hospitality was not a cross for her. She made many scrumptious meals. Her quiet way of service was appreciated by many. Their years of service included the Dodge City mission and the Philippines. These were highlights.
Mom enjoyed the farm, including her strawberries and roses. She left the farm with reluctance. They spent two and a half years in the apartments, and the last several months in Bethel Home.
Those to cherish her memories are her husband: Harold; Five children: Michael and wife Cynthia, Montezuma, Kansas, Stanton and wife Starla, Plains, Kansas, Mark and wife Denise, Paxton, Nebraska, Susan and husband Bruce Koehn, Montezuma, Kansas, Darwin and wife Vonda, Gruver, Texas; 19 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She is also survived by four brothers Donald Koehn, Gladwin Koehn and wife Judy, Franklin Koehn and wife Saundra, Dennis Koehn and wife Carlotta, sister-in-law Francis Koehn. Preceding her in death are her parents, one brother: Robert, two sisters: Joan and Verna June, one son: Doyle, three grandsons, and one great granddaughter.
