Dodge City - Lorena Grace Rouse, 63, died September 30, 2018 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City.  She was born on July 25, 1955 in Fort Benning, Georgia the daughter of Denton and Helen (Stockwell) James.

As a child, Lorena moved often with her family as her father was transferred to various military bases.  Medicine Lodge was often considered home as well.  Lorena graduated from Dodge City High School in 1973.  She then attended Dodge City Community College for one year.  She worked at DCCC as a secretary in the cosmetology and child care center.  On September 6, 1977, she married the love of her life, Craig Rouse, in Miami, Oklahoma.  He survives.  Lorena enjoyed spending time with her family, riding motorcycles, and her boxers.

She is survived by her husband, Craig of Dodge City; a son, Kristopher Rouse and wife Melissa of Williamsport, Pennsylvania; a daughter, Carlie Rouse and fiance Matthew Brackey of Dodge City; her mother, Helen James of Perry, Oklahoma; one brother, David James of Lincoln, Nebraska; and three sisters, Sheryl James of Florida, Patty Bloom of Perry, Oklahoma, and Brenda James of Perry, Oklahoma.  She is preceded in death by her father.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City on Thursday October  4, 2018 at 10:30 AM.  Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Wednesday October  3, 2018 from noon to 5:00 PM.  The casket will remain closed.  Memorials are suggested to the Dodge City Community College Child Care Center in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
