Obituary

Dodge City - Luther E. Morton, 78, died September 28, 2012 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. He was born on October 5, 1933 in Rawlins County, the son of Lester E. and Nola (Vernon) Morton.

Luther graduated from Decatur High School in 1951. He married Elaine Barker Kyte on May 21, 1960 in Oberlin. She survives. Luther farmed for many years before retiring. He enjoyed collecting toys, antique tractors, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Dodge City.

In addition to his wife, Luther is survived by three sons; Larry Morton and wife Michelle of Jetmore, Joe Kyte of Wichita, and Millard Kyte of Oberlin; one brother, Doyle Morton and wife Ferrel of Coldwater; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one nephew; and three nieces.He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister; and one brother.

Graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Monday, October 1, 2012 from noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Manor in care of the funeral home.
