March 11, 1943 – April 17, 2021
Montezuma - Lyle LaVonn Rhodes gained his wings at the close of day April 17, 2021. He was reunited with his daughter April whom he missed so profoundly. He was born March 11, 1943 in Tampa, Kansas, the son of Harold and Mable (Minninger) Rhodes.
Lyle was known for his acceptance of everyone he met. Because of this, our home became home to many. He believed life was what you make of it. Dad could meet people where they were at with love. Lyle was a mentor and father figure to nieces, nephews, and many young people in the community. Dad's relationship with God spoke volumes! He prayed often for his family and would talk about how blessed he was by the Lord.
Lyle met the love of his life in the Spring of 1981. Dad and Mom were married in December the 5th of that same year. Their home was blessed with four daughters fulfilling his dream of becoming a dad. They were looking forward to celebrating their 40th anniversary by taking the family on a trip to the Virgin Islands.
Dad's passion for custom cutting began with his dad in South Dakota. He later moved to Kansas starting his own business which he ran for 45 years. Lyle was an experienced businessman who owned multiple businesses, including Carquest, since 1983.
After retiring Dad found his passion in restoring antiques toys. His joy was watching children pick out a toy from his collection. Often donating to many causes. Dad's favorite saying was "At the end of the day, what can you live with?"
