Mabel Mae (Perkins) Ernst, 100, died Thursday, November 25, 2010 at Trinity Manor Nursing Home in Dodge City. She was born on May 9, 1910 in Wynonna, Missouri,the daughter of Louis Benjamin and Minnie Jane (Duncan) Perkins.

In 1915, Mabel moved to Belpre from Wynonna, Missouri. She then moved to Gray County and graduated from Ingalls High School in 1930. Mabel worked at the Salvation Army for 17 years. On December 21, 1941, she married Carl Ernst at Great Bend. He preceded her in death on January 29, 1988. Mabel owned rental properties throughout Dodge City. She enjoyed attending auctions whenever she could.

She was a member of the League of Mercy and the Home League all of the Salvation Army of Dodge City, and the Senior Citizens Center also of Dodge City.

Mabel is survived by one son, Dennis Ernst and companion Christine Robertson of Dodge City; one grandson; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Carl, she was preceded in death by two brothers; three sisters; and one granddaughter, Miki Ernst.

Funeral service will be held at Scroggins Mausoleum in Dodge City on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday, November 26, 2010 from noon to 8:00 PM.
