MADALINE M. ADDISON

Madaline Maxine Addison, 85, of Cimarron, died Monday, April 13, 2009 at Western Plains Medical Complex at Dodge City, KS. She was born on September 24, 1923 near Ingalls, KS, the daughter of Harold and Alverna (Ginest) Byer.

A full-time homemaker, avid reader and excellent cook, Madaline enjoyed entertaining her friends and family. She and Leroy Addison were married on April 12, 1949, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He survives. She and Leroy spent 35 winters in South Padre, Texas, where they made friends with other "snowbirds" from all over the country.

She was a member of First Christian Church and the VFW Auxillary, both of Cimarron, Kansas.


Survivors include husband, Leroy Charles Addison of Cimarron, four sons, Rickey Dale Hewes of Albuquerque, NM; Michael Alvin Hewes and wife Bernice of Storrs, Conn; Danny Rex Hewes and wife Lynne, and Ritchie Eugene Addison and wife Patty, both of Cimarron, one daughter, Deema JaRue Addison of Arlington, Texas; two brothers, Harold Byer, Jr. and wife Betty of Garden City, and Larry Dean Byer and wife Nancy of Phoenix, Ariz. Also seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband Rex E. Hewes, who died in 1947.

Private family services will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Cimarron, on Thursday, April 16, 2009 with Rev. Craig Atkinson presiding. Burial will follow at Cimarron Cemetery in Cimarron, KS.
