DODGE CITY - MaDella K. Crouse, 79, died October 24, 2011 at Good Samaritan Center, Dodge City. She was born on June 11, 1932 at Montezuma, the daughter of Ben and Esther (Schmidt) Voth.
MaDella attended schools in Cimarron, Wilroads Gardens, and Dodge City. She worked at several restaurants as a waitress throughout Kansas and at the Dodge City Laundry until it closed. Mrs. Crouse also worked at a vending company in Rogers, Arkansas. One of MaDella's favorite past times was playing the piano and singing with friends and family. She also enjoyed going dancing and traveling. MaDella collected state coffee mugs on her many trips.
MaDella married Otis Thomas in Clovis, New Mexico and had four children from that marriage, Dan, Ben, Carl and Stephanie, they later divorced. She moved around but eventually came back to Dodge City, where she met and married Martin Crouse. Martin preceded her in death. MaDella later got reaquainted with long time friend Bill Kreger and they lived in Hanston until Bill's death in 2006. Later MaDella moved to Arkansas to live with her son Carl and his wife until health issues brought her home to Dodge City, where MaDella has lived since.
Survivors include, son, Dan Thomas and wife Debbie of Powers, Oregon and their three sons, Bobby & Paul Thomas of Powers, Oregon and Israel Shawn Thomas of Omaha, Nebraska; son, Ben Thomas and wife Joyce of Dodge City and their children, Troy Thomas of Dodge City and Timothy Thomas of Sidney, Nebraska, there are 11 Great Grandchildren from Ben & Joyce they are Tessa, Dakota, Talon, Lennon, Gatlin, Davian, Sabrina, Brentan, Carson, Kayden and Mackenzy; son, Carl Thomas and wife Sheila Kay of Rogers, Arkansas; and daughter, Stephanie Lola (deceased) and her children, Barbara, Pam Allen of Arkansas and her children Stephanie and David Allen, and son, Dan Lola of Pennsylvania and his son.
MaDella is also survived by two sisters, Lois Posey of Larned and Leanna Kreger of Council Grove; four brothers, Willard Voth of Wisconsin, Vernon Voth of Arizona, JB Voth of Oregon, and Clinton Voth of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Crouse was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister, her daughter Stephanie, her husband Martin Crouse and her special partner Bill Kreger. She will be missed by many friends and family whom she loved and cherished and enjoyed their companionship and caring. Thank you to all who have touched MaDellas life.
Graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City on Friday, October 28, 2011 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. There is no public visitation as cremation has taken place.
