MAGDALENE E. MCGROARTY

Dodge City - Magdalene E. McGroarty, 94, died April 27, 2014 at Trinity Manor Nursing Home in Dodge City. She was born on July 25, 1919 at Spearville the daughter of John and Mary (Braun) Dasenbrock.

Magdalene graduated from St. Mary of the Plains Academy. She taught school six years in Hodgeman & Ford County. Mrs. McGroarty was a bookkeeper for Mullin Furniture Store and for Johnson Floor Covering, the family business, for 25 years. She married Edward McGroarty on October 30, 1945 in Dodge City. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1987. She then worked for "The Country Cottage" for 13 years and several years for "Different Looks".

She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe of Dodge City.

Mrs. McGroarty is survived by one son, Thomas McGroarty and wife Mary of Dodge City; one daughter, Kathleen Arnett and husband Boyce of Louisburg; six grandsons and 13 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Joe Dasenbrock and two sisters, Rita Knott and Clara Irsik.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Wesley Schawe presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 12:00 - 5:00 PM. Vigil service will be held Cathedral of Our Lady Guadalupe on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 7:00 P.M.
