Dodge City - Manuel Donjuan Alarcon, 74, died August 19, 2023 at his home in Dodge City, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 4, 1949 in Chichihualco, Gro, Mexico, the son of Miguel Donjuan and Micaela Alarcon.
Manuel spent his childhood and early adult life in Chichihualco. On March 24, 1968, he married Evelia Marino. They recently celebrated 55 years of marriage. While in Mexico, Manuel worked in the manufacturing of balls for various sports. The family moved to Dodge City in 1999. Manuel went to work for Cargill. He enjoyed gardening, painting, and scratch off lottery tickets. Manuel was not the type of person to just sit around. He was always looking for projects around the house to complete and things to keep him busy. Manuel also loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Evelia of Dodge City; two sons, Oscar Manuel Donjuan of Dodge City and Miguel Angel Donjuan of Coldwater, Michigan; a daughter, Leticia Donjuan of Dodge City; two brothers, Rafael and Bernardo Donjuan Alarcon both of Chichihualco, Mexico; one sister, Maria Teresa Donjuan Alarcon of Chichihualco, Mexico; 11 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Manuel is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Erica Donjuan; two sons, Rafael Donjuan and Julio Cesar Donjuan; a grandson, Oscar Donjuan, Jr.; and a brother-in-law, Roberto Marino.
Funeral Mass will be held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Wesley Schawe presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City on Thursday, August 24, 2023 from noon to 7:00 PM with a vigil following at 7:00 PM. Lo sobreviven su esposa, Evelia de Dodge City; dos hijos, Oscar Manuel Donjuan de Dodge City y Miguel Angel Donjuan de Coldwater, Michigan; una hija, Leticia Donjuan de Dodge City; dos hermanos, Rafael y Bernardo Donjuan Alarcon, ambos de Chichihualco, México; una hermana, María Teresa Donjuan Alarcón de Chichihualco, México; 11 nietos; y cuatro bisnietos. A Manuel lo precedieron en la muerte sus padres; una hija, Erica Donjuan; dos hijos, Rafael Donjuan y Julio Cesar Donjuan; un nieto, Oscar Donjuan, Jr.; y un cuñado, Roberto Marino.
La misa fúnebre se llevará a cabo en la Catedral de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, Dodge City el viernes 25 de agosto de 2023 a las 10:00 a. m. bajo la presidencia del Padre Wesley Schawe. El entierro seguirá en el cementerio Maple Grove en Dodge City. El velorio será en Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City el jueves 24 de agosto de 2023 desde el mediodía hasta las 7:00 p. m. seguido de una vigilia a las 7:00 p. m.
