Montezuma - Margaret Good, 93, died October 13, 2023 at Bethel Home in Montezuma. She was born on August 12, 1930 in Stafford, the daughter of Earl and Gladys (Johnson) McCune.
Margaret spent her early childhood in Stafford before moving to Montezuma with her family. She graduated from Montezuma High School and went on to further her education at St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City. On August 3, 1952, Margaret was united in marriage to Bill Gene Good. The couple made their home in Montezuma, welcoming two sons, Steve and Todd.
After completing her degree, Margaret started her teaching career that spanned 39 years. Margaret touched the lives of students at the country school near Cave, Ensign Elementary, and lastly at Montezuma Elementary where she taught third grade. Margaret also helped out on the farm when needed. She was known for making fabulous meals to take to the field and Sunday dinners for family. The family enjoyed her cooking talent, especially her lemon meringue pie.
Margaret is survived by six grandchildren, Tyson Good and wife Rebecca of Montezuma, Amanda Koehn and husband Russell of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; Rusty Good of San Diego, California, Holly Good of San Diego, California; Ted Whisler and wife Kayla of Surprise, Arizona, and Jason Whisler and wife Laura of Mulvane; 12 great grandchildren, Wyatt Whisler, Addison, Kolton, Easton, and Emerson Whisler, Brooklyn, Payten, and Remington Good, and Ian, Greenley, Oliver, and Elijah Koehn; one sister, Gloria Sayer of Springfield, Missouri; a brother, Lloyd McCune; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents; two sons, Steve and Todd Good; a brother, Manuel McCune; and a sister, Ozelle Baker.
Funeral service will be held at Montezuma United Methodist Church on Monday, October 16, 2023 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Kyle Woodrow presiding. Burial will follow at Cimarron Cemetery. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Montezuma on Sunday, October 15, 2023 from noon to 6:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Montezuma United Methodist Women in care of the funeral home.
