Obituary

Margaret Loewen Neufeld passed away on April 18, 2026 at her home in Montezuma. She was born on April 3, 1973, in Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, Mexico to Peter and Agatha (Teichroeb) Loewen.

She along with her family lived in Mexico until 1984, when they moved to Elkhart. She finished her schooling there and was proud to have gotten her high school diploma.

On May 22, 1994, she was baptized at the Reinlander Mennonite Church in Mexico and on July 10,1994, she married Jake Neufeld from Mexico. They moved back to Kansas and began their family. For the first ten years of their married lives, they lived in Elkhart, where she worked at the local nursing home. She was known as the one who brought energy. She always had stories and jokes to tell and made an effort to make others day better. Around 2004, they moved to Meade and Margaret began working as a housekeeper at the hospital in Meade, where she continued putting smiles on others faces. She loved making others happy and she did that everywhere she went!

She joined the Copeland Mennonite Evangelical Church shortly after she had rededicated her life to Christ. She served where she could within the church and was a great blessing to many. Although she had her flaws, she did her best to grow in her walk as a Christian and remained faithful to God and finished her race strong!

She loved serving. Margaret kept finding ways to serve the community wherever she went. In the last few years, she spent a lot of time planning and directing the farmers market in Montezuma. She had a skill for encouraging others to use their God given gifts and share them with others, and of course you could count on her to be making some kind of delicious meal there as well. Making food for others was one of her biggest love languages. She loved serving people in that way and sacrificed much of her time to help make food at fundraisers and church events. Not only did she help with these events, but she did it with joy. You could count on those around Margaret to have a laugh or two while working together with her.

As much as Margaret loved to cook and serve the community, she had one greater love and that was her children and her grandchildren. They were her pride and joy, and she loved doing anything she could for them. Her kids may have even had to ask her to "give them space" from time to time. Margaret loved to snuggle her grandkids, or as she called them "her munchkins" on her lazy boy. She also loved taking the grandkids to the park and watching them explore and play.

Margaret Loewen Neufeld, a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother will be greatly missed by many. She leaves behind on her in-law side, John and Agatha Neufeld, Tina Knelson, Agatha Neufeld, Maria Fehr, and Lisa Fehr; from her side, brothers, John and wife, Eva Loewen, George and wife, Helen Loewen, Pete and wife, Helen Loewen, Ben and wife, Agatha Loewen, Isaac and wife, Susanna Loewen, and Jake and wife, Tina Loewen; brother-in law, George Kroeker; sisters, Justina Friesen, Helen Neufeld, and Eva and husband, John Hamm; sister-in-law, Lisa Neufeld; her husband, Jake Neufeld; her children; son, Pancho Neufeld and wife, Joodi along with their five children, Jayden, Shawn, Rilyn, River, and Landon, son, David Neufeld and wife, Margaret, and daughter, Sara.
