Margaret P. (Kramer) Schawe, 95, died Friday, August 6, 2010 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains in Dodge City. She was born on February 19, 1915 in Spearville, the daughter of Paul and Anna (Ehly) Kramer.

Margaret married Corwin Schawe on November 24, 1936 at Spearville. He preceded her in death on February 16, 1989. They farmed for many years. They later moved to Spearville in 1954. Margaret enjoyed crocheting and quilting.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Spearville.

Margaret is survived by three daughters, Sharla Thill and husband LeRoy of Ellinwood, Connie Kallaus and husband Gene of Burlington, Colorado, and Margie Combest of Dodge City; two sons, Ben Schawe and wife Jean of Wright and Dennis Schawe of Spearville; a daughter-in-law, Anne Schawe of Spearville; two brothers Don Kramer of Wichita, and Paul Kramer of La Palma, California; one sister, Alma Duncan of Dodge City; 27 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. In addition to her husband Corwin, she was preceded in death by a son, Mike Schawe; son-in-law, Dirk Combest; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Schawe.

Vigil service will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Spearville, on Sunday, August 8, 2010 at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Monday, August 9, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Ted Stoecklein celebrating. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Spearville. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, on Sunday, August 8, 2010 from noon to 5:00 PM.
