Marguerite Holmes 79, died Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Aldersgate Village of Topeka. She was born on a farm southwest of McCracken, KS, the daughter of Reginald "Max" and Loretta Higgins Washaliski, on August 3, 1930. She graduated from Bazine High School. She was a homemaker and a vital part of the Lloyd Holmes Auto Sales of Dodge City for 30 years. On August 8, 1948 she married Lloyd P. Holmes at McCracken.

Survivors include her husband, Lloyd, of Topeka; daughter in law, Karen Holmes of Greenville, Texas; 2 sons, Kent Holmes and wife Cathy of Topeka and Todd Holmes and wife Jodi of Montezuma; two brothers, William H. "Skip" Washaliski and wife Myrl of Milton, Florida, and Reginald M. "Diz" Washaliski and wife Wilma of McCracken; two sisters, Vivian Simmons and Marietta Kirk and husband Gene both of Dodge City; four grandsons Brian Holmes and wife Gloria Garland, Texas, David Holmes of Greenville, Texas, Nicholas Holmes and wife Marci of Pasadena, California, and Grant Holmes of Lawrence; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and her oldest son, Alan.

Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Swaim Funeral Home of Dodge City with Rev. Dick Robbins officiating. Burial will be 2:00 P.M. at McCracken Cemetery of McCracken with Rev. Eugene Beye officiating. The casket will remain closed but friends may sign the guest book on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
