Maria Torres Barnhart, 81, passed away on September 25, 2026, at Trinity Manor Nursing Home in Dodge City. She was born on March 1, 1945 in Uvalde, Texas to Juan and Francisca (Deleon) Torres.

Maria was a longtime resident of Ingalls before moving to Dodge City to be closer to her family. She was married to Alejandro Barnhart, he preceded her in death. Maria was a hard worker doing many different things to help take care of her family. She loved music and dancing but especially loved her family and spending time with them.

Maria is survived by children, Henry Barnhart, Tony Barnhart, Ricardo Barnhart, and Janie Barnhart all of Dodge City; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and two brothers and four sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband Alex Barnhart, Sr, her parents, and son, Alex Barnhart, Jr.

Memorial service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 2, 2026 at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Dodge City. Burial will be at a later date at the Plains Cemetery in Plains, Kansas. There will be no public visitaiton as cremation has taken place. Memorial donations can be made in to the Maria Barnhart Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
