Dodge City - Maria Del Rosario Rico de Padilla, 93, died June 28, 2022 at SunPorch, Dodge City, Kansas.  She was born on November 22, 1928 in Tabasco, Zacatecas, Mexico, the daughter of Rosendo Rico and Margarita Yañes.

She married Jose De Jesus Padilla on January 16, 1945; they were married for 77 years.

She was a devout Catholic and enjoyed attending the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe of Dodge City. Maria loved spending time with her grandchildren and babysitting. She loved knitting and was always praying.

Maria is survived by her children, Jesus Padilla, Ramon Padilla, Celia Padilla, Maria M. Diaz, Emerita Padilla, and Maria N. Padilla; three sisters and one brother; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great- grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jose De Jesus Padilla; brothers, Raul Rico, and Samuel Rico; and children, Rigoberto Padilla, and Guillermina Padilla.

Funeral service will be held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Wednesday July 13, 2022 at 12:00 PM with Fr. John Stang presiding.  No burial to follow as cremation will take place.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Tuesday July 12, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 5:00P.M. Vigil will be held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe at 7:00 P.M. Era una católica devota y disfrutaba asistir a la Catedral de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe de Dodge City. A Maria le gustaba pasar el tiempo con sus nietos y cuidar a niños. Le encantaba tejer y siempre estaba orando.

A María le sobreviven sus hijos, Jesús Padilla, Ramón Padilla, Celia Padilla, Maria M. Díaz, Emerita Padilla y María N. Padilla; tres hermanas y un hermano; 15 nietos; y 13 bisnietos; y muchos familiares y amigos.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres; esposo, José de Jesús Padilla; hermanos, Raúl Rico y Samuel Rico; y dos hijos, Rigoberto Padilla y Guillermina Padilla.

El funeral será en la Catedral de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe el miércoles 13 de julio del 2022 a las 12:00 p. m. bajo la presidencia del Padre John Stang. El velorio será en Swaim Funeral Chapel el martes 12 de julio del 2022 de 12:00 p. m. a 5:00 p. m. La vigilia se llevará a cabo en la Catedral de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe a las 7:00 p.m. Se sugieren donaciones al Maria Padilla Memorial Fund en cuidado de la funeraria.
