Maria Torres, 82, died August 28, 2011 at her daughter's home in Goddard. She was born on August 29, 1928 at Batopilas, Chihuahua, Mexico the daughter of Alejandro and Amelia (Falomir) Torres.

Maria grew up in the El Paso, Texas area before moving to Dodge City in 2000. Recently, she had been living with her daughter in Goddard. Her family was very important to her. Maria loved to cook for her family and to have them all at her home.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Dodge City.

Maria is survived by three sons, Arturo Aceves and wife Maria; Alex Mancillas and wife Irma; and Jesus Mancillas and wife Consuelo all of El Paso, Texas; five daughters, Rosa Dice of Goddard; Luz Mancillas of El Paso, Texas, Edenia Herrera and husband Manuel; Elva Cardenas and husband Francisco; and Alma Bencoma and husband Luis all of Dodge City; four sisters, Gracia Viveros of Denver, Colorado; Guadalupe Torres, Elisa Torres, and Susana Torres all of Chihuahua, Mexico; one brother, Ramon Torres of Chihuahua, Mexico; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Pedro Aceves on November 13, 2002.

Funeral service will be held at First Christian Church in Dodge City on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Mr. Eliu Rocha presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 from noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Maria Torres Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
