Dodge City - Marie Ellen Frazee, 98, died August 22, 2024 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains in Dodge City. She was born on December 3, 1925 in a dugout on the family homestead near Two Buttes, Colorado, the daughter of Del and Esther (Curtis) Murphey.
As a child, Marie attended the country school that her mother taught at Two Buttes. She went on to further her education and graduated in 1943 from Springfield High School in Springfield, Colorado. On July 30, 1946, Marie was united in marriage to Milton Frazee. To this union were born four children. The family made their home in southeast Colorado.
A move was made to Johnson, Kansas where Marie helped Milton with the family business, Frazee Pump and Electrical Service. Later when the family returned to Walsh, Colorado, Marie owned and operated a clothing store.
Marie took great pride in caring for her family. She often sewed matching dresses for the girls as well as shirts for the boys. Marie also had an interest in ceramics and made many figurines for herself and her family.
Marie is survived by three children, Peggy Cook and husband Ernie of Cimarron, Ken Frazee of Phoenix, Arizona, and Curtis Frazee and wife Elizabeth of Amarillo, Texas; one sister, Zelma Holbrook of Houston, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband, Milton; a daughter, Sheri Victory; a grandson, Clete Cook; and two brothers, Oral and Homer Murphey.
Graveside service will be held at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at Fort Dodge on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at 1:30 PM with Pastor Lawrence Williams presiding. There is no visitation.
